🎶 ALBUM VAULT #244 🎶
After a weekend of yard work and NO ALBUMS… seriously, how did that happen? 😂
The Concert Journey Continues!
Rick Springfield – Living in Oz — 8/10
💿 Plex Server
Back in the office, and we’re going with Rick Springfield!
I saw Rick about 20 years ago. Actually, it’s probably been longer. WOW.
My friend Stef, who is a DIE-HARD Rick fan, convinced me to go with her and her friends.
WHAT A SHOW!
The man is a PERFORMER. Great voice, great guitarist, tons of energy, and he knows exactly how to work a crowd. And somehow he STILL looks amazing today. Seriously, Rick, what’s the secret? 😂
Living in Oz came out in 1983 and found Rick turning up the guitars while keeping those giant pop hooks. The album hit #12 on the Billboard 200 and went Platinum.
And the hits!
“Affair of the Heart” — #9
“Human Touch” — #18
“Souls” — #23
Three fantastic singles. And “Affair of the Heart” earned him another Grammy nomination.
I also really like “Alyson,” “Me & Johnny,” “Motel Eyes” and the title track. This is a little more rock-oriented than his previous records, and I love that side of Rick.
It might not be my favorite Springfield album, but it’s a damn good one.
And Stef, if you’re reading this, thanks for dragging me to that show. You were RIGHT!
