🎶 ALBUM VAULT #232 🎶
Back in the office after a weekend of RAIN, and the Plex server is chugging along again.
Back to the concert list…
Phil Collins – …But Seriously — 10/10
💿 Plex Server
This was my favorite concert I had ever seen until last year. I’ll explain that one later. 😎
I was already a huge Phil Collins fan when this came out in 1989, and I absolutely wore this album out. It even became the soundtrack to my Film Studies project back then. So yeah… this one has some history with me.
And it was MASSIVE.
…But Seriously went to #1 on the Billboard 200, was certified 4x Platinum in the U.S., and spent an incredible 15 weeks at #1 in the UK.
Then there are the hits:
“Another Day in Paradise” — #1 for four weeks
“I Wish It Would Rain Down” — #3
“Do You Remember?” — #4
“Something Happened on the Way to Heaven” — #4
“Another Day in Paradise” even won Record of the Year at the Grammys.
And “I Wish It Would Rain Down” with Eric Clapton on guitar? Come on. That song is HUGE.
But this album is more than the singles. “Hang in Long Enough,” “That’s Just the Way It Is,” “All of My Life,” “Colours,” “Father to Son” and “Find a Way to My Heart” make this one of Phil’s strongest albums front to back.
This was Phil at the absolute height of it all.
Solo career exploding. Genesis still enormous. Acting. Touring. Producing.
He was everywhere.
And I could not get enough of it.
Still can’t.
