After a morning of yard work, it’s finally time to sit down and enjoy some vinyl.
Paul Simon – Graceland — 10/10

Man, what a record.
Graceland is one of those albums that just feels different from everything else. Paul Simon took pop, folk, South African rhythms and a bunch of incredible musicians and somehow made it all fit together perfectly.
“You Can Call Me Al” is obviously the big one. Impossible not to sing along with it.
“Graceland” is just beautiful.
“Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes” is fantastic.
And “The Boy in the Bubble” is one hell of an opener.
Then you get into “Homeless,” “Under African Skies,” “Gumboots” and the rest of the album, and there really isn’t much filler here at all.
This thing was huge too. Grammy for Album of the Year, massive sales, and one of the albums that really defined Paul Simon’s solo career.
Just a great record from beginning to end.
Perfect album to start the vinyl day.
