🎶 ALBUM VAULT #213 🎶

SOUNDTRACK MONDAY!
Back at the office after a long week of vacation. Plex Server is fired up, so let’s do this.
Wayne’s World – Music from the Motion Picture — 10/10
💿 Plex Server
Party on, Wayne.
What started as Mike Myers and Dana Carvey doing Wayne and Garth on Saturday Night Live became a full-blown movie in 1992. The SNL sketch debuted in 1989, with the guys broadcasting their goofy public-access show from Wayne’s basement. Three years later they were on the big screen, and somehow the soundtrack became almost as memorable as the movie.
And this soundtrack is LOADED.
Queen – “Bohemian Rhapsody” – The obvious one. That car scene gave a 1975 song an entirely new life. It originally peaked at #9 in America, then came roaring back to #2 in 1992 because of Wayne’s World. That is nuts.
Cinderella – “Hot and Bothered” – Perfect hair-metal fit for Wayne and Garth. It was pushed as a new soundtrack single, but never became a giant pop hit.
BulletBoys – “Rock Candy” – Their take on the Montrose classic. No big chart story, just a great loud track.
Gary Wright – “Dream Weaver” – Gary actually recorded a new version specifically for Wayne’s World. No huge second chart run, but another old song introduced to a whole new crowd.
Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Sikamikanico” – Weird, funky and completely Chili Peppers. No big chart hit, but perfect soundtrack deep cut.
Black Sabbath – “Time Machine” – Ronnie James Dio-era Sabbath. This soundtrack version showed up before Dehumanizer. Heavy stuff for a comedy soundtrack.
Wayne & Garth – “Wayne’s World Theme” – Come on. You HAVE to have it. 😂
Tia Carrere – “Ballroom Blitz” – Cassandra could actually sing! Her version became a real hit in the UK, reaching #26.
Jimi Hendrix – “Foxey Lady” – Garth dancing. Enough said.
Alice Cooper – “Feed My Frankenstein” – Another song that got a nice boost from the movie and later reached #27 in the UK. Plus we got the legendary Alice Cooper Milwaukee history lesson. 😂
Rhino Bucket – “Ride With Yourself” – Great driving rock song. No chart explosion, but it belongs here.
Eric Clapton – “Loving Your Lovin’” – A cool Clapton track that never became one of his big singles.
Tia Carrere – “Why You Wanna Break My Heart” – Another Cassandra song and a really good way to close the record. Never became the hit “Ballroom Blitz” did.
And the SOUNDTRACK itself?
It went all the way to #1 on the Billboard 200, actually knocking Garth Brooks out of the top spot after an 18-week run.
That tells you everything.
Funny movie.
Great music.
One of the best soundtrack albums of the ’90s.
Excellent!
