🎶 ALBUM VAULT #255 🎶
I AM ENERGY. ⚡
Today is officially a Vinyl Energy flashback day.
If you remember Energy 92.7&5, you remember just how different that station sounded. Chicago had an actual ALL-DANCE station blasting through 92.7 and 92.5.
Dance records. Club mixes. Stuff nobody else on the dial was touching.
Man… that was fun radio.
So let’s start with somebody who absolutely belongs in that world…
Amber – Amber (25th Anniversary)
💿 2LP Silver Vinyl
Amber had already broken through with “This Is Your Night,” but this 1999 self-titled album took her even deeper into dance music.
And the hits were HUGE in the clubs.
“Sexual (Li Da Di)”
“Above the Clouds”
“Love One Another”
All three went to #1 on the Billboard Dance Club chart.
“Sexual” especially was EVERYWHERE.
That hook comes on and suddenly I’m mentally standing in an Energy studio again. 😂
The album also has “Object of Your Desire,” “If I’m Not the One,” “Without You,” “I Found Myself in You” and “Don’t Wanna Stop.”
Then this 25th Anniversary edition turns the Energy knob even further.
You get “If You Could Read My Mind” plus remixes from Thunderpuss, Eric Kupper, Hex Hector, Junior Vasquez and Deep Dish.
COME ON.
Two silver records loaded with late-90s/early-2000s club music?
That’s basically an Energy 92.7&5 time machine.
Turn it up.
