🎶 ALBUM VAULT #248 🎶
After a week of coding an application for my internet radio station, thevarietystation.com, I am BACK AT IT.
And this is the second half of that Goo Goo Dolls night in Tinley Park…
Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet — 10/10
It was HOT.
The Goo Goo Dolls had just finished their set, the good half of the Mix Morning Show was there and she was really cool, and then Bon Jovi takes the stage.
What I did NOT know was that we were going to be allowed ON STAGE for FIVE SONGS.
Yes.
I touched Jon Bon Jovi twice.
TWICE. 😂
What a show.
And what an album.
This was the record that took Bon Jovi from a successful rock band and turned them into one of the biggest bands in the world.
Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Tico Torres and Alec John Such were absolutely locked in here.
And the hits are ridiculous.
“You Give Love a Bad Name” — #1
“Livin’ on a Prayer” — #1
“Wanted Dead or Alive” — #7
Then you still have “Never Say Goodbye,” “Raise Your Hands,” “Let It Rock,” “I’d Die for You” and “Wild in the Streets.”
Come on.
Slippery When Wet spent eight weeks at #1, went 12x Platinum in the U.S., and sold around 28 million copies worldwide.
That is not just a successful album.
That is a cultural EVENT.
And standing on that stage in Tinley Park, watching this band absolutely destroy the place…
Man, I miss those days.
When music was MUSIC.
