🎶 ALBUM VAULT #227 🎶
Still going in concert order…
Billy Joel – Storm Front — 8/10
💿 Red “50 Years of Billy” Vinyl
I saw Billy on the Storm Front Tour at the Rosemont Horizon, now the Allstate Arena. Another one I can still picture.
This isn’t my favorite Billy Joel album, but there is some GREAT stuff on it.
Obviously the monster was “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” It went all the way to #1 and stayed there for two weeks. The album followed it to #1 on the Billboard 200 and eventually went 4x platinum.
But I may actually like some of the other songs more.
“I Go to Extremes” is classic Billy and reached #6.
“The Downeaster ‘Alexa’” only made it to #57, but that chart number doesn’t tell you how good that song is.
“And So It Goes” reached #37 and is just beautiful.
“That’s Not Her Style” hit #77, and then you’ve got “Shameless,” “Leningrad,” “State of Grace” and the title track rounding out a really solid album.
And of course Garth Brooks later grabbed “Shameless” and turned it into a #1 country hit. Not a bad leftover. 😂
Not my favorite Billy album.
But hearing these songs always takes me right back to the Rosemont Horizon and seeing the Piano Man live.
